Senior Legal Adviser (Energy Group)

We are looking for a Senior Legal Adviser to join our Energy practice. This is a unique opportunity to support one of our firm's strategically important firm-wide, cross-expertise practice areas that is working on socially relevant topics at a time of rapid development in the energy sector.

Our Energy practice advises clients on complex energy law matters, working across multiple practice areas including Regulation, M&A, Finance, and Litigation. The energy market is developing at an unprecedented pace, and our clients are at the heart of the transition, creating significant opportunities for innovative legal work and business development. You will join a dynamic team of highly qualified specialists and play a crucial role in strengthening the team's capacity and knowledge base.

The ideal candidate has a legal background and is experienced in the energy practice. We are looking for someone that is keen to assist in providing top tier advice and to keep track of relevant developments for our clients and the matters we handle, supporting us on all elements of this multi-disciplinary practice.

About the role

You will work closely with lawyers and our business development team across multiple practice groups and assist them as needed. This includes assisting and advising our lawyers on issues related to your area of expertise, organising expert meetings, training sessions, developing know-how on specific topics as well as sector-specific developments, create client presentations and work on pitch documents, and coordinate relationships with relevant (international) organisations and associations in the field of energy.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the energy practice group across multiple sections, working with Regulation, M&A, Finance and Litigation teams
• Staying current with developments in energy law and regulation
• Maintaining a knowledge base with precedents, drafting memoranda and developing templates
• Writing updates and contributing to newsletters for clients and colleagues on developments relevant to the practice
• Actively contributing to business development activities, including pitches and client events
• Enhancing team efficiency and productivity through specialist knowledge
• Maintaining relationships with Dutch and international organisations in the field of energy that De Brauw has active engagements with or would like to get involved in
• Working closely with the other legal advisers within De Brauw. Together, these legal advisers form part of the broader Legal Operations department. Our Legal Operations department is responsible for optimising legal service delivery to our clients. You will report primarily to the head of the practice group Regulation.

We are constantly reviewing and improving on the way we work. As part of your role, you will drive innovation in our Energy practice. You will regularly share best practices among our legal advisers.

Our ideal candidate

The ideal candidate for this position:

• has at least 7 years of relevant experience as a lawyer, counsel or legal adviser, with a focus on energy law
• has a strong understanding of energy law and regulation, and is able to see the big picture in this rapidly evolving sector
• is innovative, self-starting, sociable and assertive in dealing with all levels of an organisation
• has good communication skills - a team player who is able to connect at all levels of the firm
• is dedicated, well-organised and has a hands-on mentality
• has good writing skills, an excellent command of the Dutch and English language
• is motivated to contribute to business development, client relationship management and innovation
